Foraging

The concept is fairly new to me, except for the traditional chanterelle or berry picking.

When I started to use a dried nettle powder to amp up my iron levels and realized how stupid it is to buy it(expensive and unnecessary)when nettle grows literally everywhere! I got curious about what else is out there that's edible?

I am learning as I'm doing, Google is my friend.

One thing that's certain, dandelion flowers fried in (vegan)butter is one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten! Who would have known? I imagine the thousands of dandelions I picked over the years. The thousands that get tossed on the compost by annoyed gardeners. What a waste!

Yesterday I picked nettle and dandelion flowers and leaves. I made a pesto-ish green sauce that tasted amazing on pasta, you need to be prepared for a quite strong green and a bit bitter taste. With lovely flavours like garlic, capers, lemon,(vegan)parmesan and nutritional yeast it tasted so damn good I might make it again today and skipp the pasta and eat it by the spoon full!

Start small, be curious and give it a go!
